# Close the loop

Turn confidence concerns and outcome evidence into an owned decision and next evidence trigger.

Duration: 5 min

The loop closes when evidence confirms or changes a decision, not when a score is collected.

### Use confidence to request evidence

After a confidence rating, ask what evidence, expectation or concern explains it. Record the wording and respondent. Do not treat an arbitrary percentage as an objective process measure.

Close with the decision, owner, effective date, evidence used, rejected alternatives and next review trigger. Record evidence debt that matters but does not block today's choice.

**Failure mode:** actions are listed but no scope, funding, priority or evaluation decision changes. The loop remains open.

### Worked example and transfer practice

All examples below are fictional teaching material. Use synthetic notes; no workplace or personal data is required or uploaded.

**Turn a concern into owned evidence work.** The fictional library sponsor says ‘70% confident’ because volunteer effort is unknown. Record the concern in those words; do not interpret it as a measured 70% probability of success. The owner continues only the bounded trial, assigns effort measurement to the coordinator, and reconsiders if burden crosses the agreed limit or at the next review. State why immediate expansion was rejected.

**Try before reading the guide:** Write a decision, effective checkpoint, evidence owner, unresolved limitation and reconsideration trigger. Explain the next step if the burden evidence is missing again.

The record connects authority and evidence to a consequence. A confidence score plus an action list leaves the governing choice unstated. Continued operation should be explicit and bounded when the evidence remains incomplete.
