Backlog detail horizon
The point beyond which backlog items deliberately carry less detail because their priority, design and evidence may change before the team is ready to select them.
This is an editorial synthesis based on the Scrum Guide’s emergent Product Backlog and ongoing refinement. Scrum does not prescribe maturity levels or a fixed number of Sprints of ready work.
Items nearest selection need enough clarity for a responsible choice. Lower-order items can remain coarse until evidence or priority brings them nearer.
